Two Clinton County Women Score $50,000 With Big Iowa Lottery Wins
I guess it's not totally out of the norm for two people from the same Iowa county to win top prizes from the Iowa Lottery, especially when it's a highly populated county. But Clinton County isn't really one of those.
But two women from Clinton County won huge Iowa Lottery prizes and claimed them just a day apart. The places where they bought their winning tickets are just a little over 6 miles away from one another.
Who are the two women from Clinton County who won a combined $50,000 from the Iowa Lottery in just 24 hours? Let's meet them.
Clinton Woman Scores $30,000 Top Prize
Congrats to Wendy Jewell of Clinton who won a top prize in the Iowa Lottery's "$30,000 Crossword" scratch game. Now, she's weighing some gifts for her kids.
"My son wants a miniature dirt bike so I might get him one of those," Wendy Jewell of Clinton told Iowa Lottery officials. "(My daughter) wants a cell phone, but I don't know if I'm okay with giving her a cell phone yet, being six." Jewell, who works at a grocery store, said that in addition to the ideas for her children, she's planning to pay off some bills.
Jewell bought her winning ticket at Liquor Tobacco & Vape, 112 S. 2nd St. in Clinton, and claimed her prize Thursday at the lottery regional office in Cedar Rapids. Jewell won the 56th of 151 top prizes of $30,000 in the game.
But she's not the only one from Clinton County to win.
