Popular Illinois Zoo Wants You To Be A Zombie Or Run As One

If it's been a dream of yours to be a zombie or run them, a zoo in Illinois has the perfect event for you. This run needs volunteers to be zombies and those who want to run are helping raise money for the zoo's foundation.

Run For Your Life At Illinois Zoo

This spooky season, you can be run with and as a zombie. But it's not your typical zombie run. This run takes place in our community's zoo, the Niabi Zoo.

Come to Niabi Zoo dressed as a zombie or in your favorite Halloween costume to run the Niabi Zoopocalypse on Saturday, Oct.  28.

This is a fun and exciting run through the zoo and it's all to support the Niabi Zoo Foundation which works to keep bringing new amazing animals and great educational exhibits for the whole family to the zoo.

Volunteer To Be A Zombie

While runners can dress up as zombies, it doesn't feel like a total zombie apocalypse if there aren't other zombies wandering around the zoo. No, the animals won't be turned into zombies, this is where the Niabi Zoo needs volunteers.

If you want to play a zombie at Niabi Zoo, then they are looking for you come and to dress in costume and wave to the 5K runners as they run by. You will be able to join the fun by sitting on the train, carousel, or benches to promote the feel of a Zoopocalypse. Simply just dress the part and give the runners, walkers, and screamers something to remember and enjoy as they make their way through the course.

Register here and up to 5 total people to volunteer to be a zombie/group of the undead and join them from 5-10 p.m. on Oct. 28 and receive a free t-shirt. Your entry is free and volunteers must be 14 years or older.

Three Different Zombie Races

During the Niabi Zoopocalypse on Saturday, Oct. 28, there will be three different races going on. You'll need to register for one of those races beforehand to participate.

Below are the details about each race including price:

• 5K at 6:30 PM - This is a chip-timed event.
  • $30.00 Early Registration (through 10/22)
  • $35.00 Registration (10/22-10/27)
  • $40.00 Day of Race
• 1 Mile at 6:30 PM - The 1 Mile is not chip-timed.
  • A finish line clock will display the time.
  • $20.00 Early Registration (through 10/22)
  • $25.00 registration (10/22-10/27)
  • $30.00 Day of Race
• Kid's Race at 6:00 PM - 200m dash
  • $20.00 Early Registration (through 10/22)
  • $25.00 Registration (10/22-10/27)
