Portion Of I-280 Eastbound In Davenport To Close For Most Of May 14th
More constructions news, Quad Cities. While crews still work on the I-280 bridge, other portions of I-280 near the bridge are being worked on. The Iowa Department of Transportation says that a portion of eastbound I-280 will be closed to traffic most of the day on May 14th for crews to work on redoing the road.
In a press release on Wednesday, the Iowa Department of Transportation's (Iowa DOT) construction office announced that a pavement grade and replace project on eastbound Interstate 280 between the Mississippi River bridge and Iowa 22 (exit 8) in Davenport will require closing the roadway to traffic. The road will be closed on Saturday, May 14. Crews will close the portion of I-280 starting at 6 a.m. and plan to reopen the roadway at 6 p.m., weather permitting.
Local motorists will follow a marked detour route using Iowa 22, Business U.S. 61, U.S. 67, and Iowa 92. Through traffic is encouraged to use I-80, according to officials.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, and obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area. Motorists should also be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones.
As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
