Today's International Tongue Twister Day, which doesn't seem like it should be a holiday, let alone an international holiday, but everything is a holiday these days.

National Today's timeline shows that the classic Peter Piper tongue twister, "Peter Picked a Peck of Pickled Peppers," originally premiered in Peter Piper’s Practical Principles of Plain and Perfect Pronunciation back in 1813.

In 1965, Mary Poppins' iconic song featuring the twister "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" went to court. Robert and Richard Sherman wrote the song we've come to know and love, but songwriters Barney Young and Gloria Parker claimed they'd written a song with the word. Young claimed he made up the word and wrote his own song in 1921.

The case's judge threw out the case, citing it as being a popular New York saying.

In 2013, MIT conducted some extensive research into finding the hardest tongue twister in the English language. They settled on "Pad kid poured curd pulled cod." Even harder than the tongue twister, let's try to explain what that even means.

We picked out ten tongue twisters from a Reader's Digest list of 40 hard tongue twisters.
