Davenport School District Cancels January 3rd Classes Due To Bus Driver Shortage
The Davenport Community School District contacted parents early Monday morning to announce the closure of the school district for January 3rd, citing a shortage of bus drivers.
Classes would have resumed today after a two-week Christmas Break, regardless of the cold weather or slippery conditions.
All after-school activities will continue as planned.
Parents of All-Saints are reporting the same message, as the school uses the same bus system.
We've reached out to the district to find out if this shortage is a staffing shortage due to not enough staff in general, or if it's a matter of staff being sick and/or in quarantine.
Understaffing is a problem that has been seen across every industry, from fast food to grocery stores, to healthcare, to now affecting the education of students.
