While we're daydreaming of warmer temps (and if you're trying to figure out what to do for Mom on Mother's Day weekend), you can mark your calendar for Beaux Arts Fair, happening the first weekend of May.

It will be May 7th and 8th at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds. Over 100 artists from all over the country will be selling their work and there will be music, as well as food and drinks from the fairgrounds.

Looking at the artist list, it looks like there will be all kinds of jewelry makers, woodworkers, photographers, glass sculptures, and more.

It will be held rain or shine and all proceeds from it will go to the Figge Art Museum for their exhibitions and educational programs. The fair is free (both admission and parking) and no commissions will be charged. Sounds like a good place to take Mom for a Mother's Day outing. Art, fair food, and music makes for a good summer weekend.

Here are the hours:

  • May 7: 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
  • May 8: 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

If you want to take it a step further and be involved with the fair, you can do that too. To help the artists, join the Beaux Arts Fair Committee, or to donate to help the Figge Art Museum, check out the fair's website here.

If you can't make it to this one, no worries. The fair is biannual so there will be another one happening in September on the 10th and 11th. Artist entry for that one is open until June 15th.
