The Kindest Cities In America. Iowa, Illinois, Or Wisconsin?

Midwest nice.  You've heard the expression before.  We are nice in the Midwest.  We smile and nod when we pass somebody on the sidewalk.  Midwesterners will form friendships with people they have just met.  We help our neighbors and strangers.

So there's no doubt that the true Midwest states of Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin are all over the list of kindest cities in America.  But, who has the kindest cities?

Southern Hospitality Comes In First

While the Midwest is nice, Southern Hospitality is real as well.  Luvlink.com surveyed travelers to find out where they find the most warm-hearted locals.

The number one spot went to Savannah, Georgia.  Luvlink says "Savannah's residents make visitors feel welcome with genuine warmth and generosity, creating a lasting impression on those exploring the city."

The South continues to reign at the top of the list with:

2 - Jackson, Mississippi
3 - Murfreesboro, Tennessee
4 - Port St. Lucie, Florida
5 - Richmond, Virginia

Finally, at number 6 we get a Midwest city...we'll have more on that below.

Kind Illinois Cities

While Illinois isn't on top of this list, it does show up with 4 kind cities.

85 - Aurora
119 - Joliet
120 - Naperville
143 - Rockford

Kind Iowa Cities

It's the home of the Field of Dreams.  So of course there are kind cities.  But not as many as Illinois.

79 - Des Moines
86 - Cedar Rapids

Kind Wisconsin City

Yes, it's just one city on the list.  Apparently, all that beer and cheese doesn't make Wisconsin kinder.  But the one city that is kind is high on the list!

Coming in as the 6th kindest city in America is Madison, Wisconsin.  Luvlink says "Madison's community is infused with a youthful, intellectual spirit, shaped by the presence of the University of Wisconsin. Locals are known for their open-mindedness and curiosity, always happy to strike up a conversation or offer tips on the city’s many lakes and bike paths."

Be kind to one another.  Neighbor or stranger.  It's good for karma, the soul, and to get your state and city recognized on the list of kindest in America.
