A new type of slap-fighting has been legalized in 4 U.S. states. Nevada, California, Florida, and Texas have sanctioned the Power Slap League, a new venture from UFC CEO Dana White.

While Power Slap competitions aren't allowed in Illinois yet, there's one man from the Land of Lincoln who is making a name for himself in the world's premiere slap-fighting organization.

Rockford, Illinois native Devan Helm is starring in season 3 of Power Slap: Road to the Title on Rumble, and in the first episode, Helm was the star of the show when he and another competitor had a heated altercation that nearly turned into a full-on brawl.

The moment is featured in the Season 3 trailer for Dana White's popular Power Slap that can be watched on Rumble.

During an interview with Helm, he recalled the first time he got hit when he was at Rockford's West Middle School.

"I was just walking with my buddy and a kid came up and just smacked me, and I didn't know what to do at that time. I hadn't gotten into any fights, my mom always told me don't put your hands on anybody," Helm said.

Helm said he was on the wrong path as a teenager, running the streets as part of a gang in Rockford, but after meeting his wife, Helm said his life completely turned around. Devan credits her and his two kids as the reason he's competing in Power Slap.
