After about a 2 week delay getting it launched, a robot that serves drinks is coming to Rockford, and this "humanoid" will be the first-ever in Illinois.

Two companies have teamed up to bring the "drink robot" called ADAM to the Land of Lincoln, and beginning this Friday, August 16 it begins serving up to 200 drinks a day.

According to a press release, the partnership between Riotech Robotics and Ghost Kitchens created the two-armed robot named ADAM, which uses artificial intelligence (AI) to "interact with customers, provide drink recommendations and adapt to changes in his environment."

ADAM will be a "new way to coffee shop" when it debuts tomorrow (Friday) inside the Walmart on Walton Street in Rockford.

The futuristic server will offer barista-quality coffee creations, from classic drinks to specialty concoctions and boba tea, and will serve 100 to 200 drinks per day, according to the press release.

ADAM, an instant-favorite of shoppers and co-workers, is an efficient and reliable worker that can produce at unprecedented levels.

Riotech Robotics and Ghost Kitchens reportedly plan to open more ADAM robot baristas at other locations in the future, and during the grand opening event on Friday (8/16), they will talk more about why Rockford was the perfect location to open the state's first humanoid drink robot.
