Illinois Homeowners: Clear These 9 Things Out of Your Shed Immediately

My dad keeps everything in his shed.  Lawn mower, lawn chairs, tiki torches, and basically anything his backyard needs to look beautiful.  But once in a while he stashes a can of gasoline in his shed and it makes me nervous!

That's why I'm sharing this with anyone who has a shed.  Please, don't store anything and everything in your shed because it might be dangerous with the summer heat we're about to get.  We don't want our sheds to burn down or set an entire neighborhood on fire.  That wouldn't be fun for you, your neighbors, or your bank account.

If you're a homeowner, it's time to do a shed clean-out.

• Electronics
• Cleaning Products
• Fertilizer
• Expensive tools
• Tires
• Fireworks
• Paint
• Gasoline

Listen, electronics and expensive tools can get ruined from moisture and heat, and even tires can break down if they're just sitting baking in heat.  Pet food can get contaminated or eaten by raccoons and other pests, plus paint, fertilizer, and cleaning products can spoil, leak, or release harmful fumes you don't want anyone to be exposed to.

Basically, your shed isn't a storage unit for everything.  It's really for stuff that can handle tough weather conditions—not your precious valuables.  Consider this a reminder, a warning, and your chance to clear out your shed before summer officially hits.  Better safe than sorry!
