Michigan Man Strapped a Fake Bomb to His Car to Keep It from Being Repo’d
A 45-year-old Harrison Township resident was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly placing a fake bomb inside a car, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.

The incident unfolded around 9:05 a.m. when deputies were dispatched to the 24000 block of Bradford Drive, near Interstate 94 and Hall Road, following reports of a suspicious situation. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a propane tank positioned in the passenger seat of a four-door sedan, with electrical wiring extending from the tank's regulator to the vehicle's console, the Sheriff's Office reported.
Adding to the alarm, a second propane tank was found attached to the driver's side front wheel, with copper wiring running underneath the car. Several signs were posted inside the car against the windshield, warning onlookers not to touch the vehicle or it would explode, according to investigators.
The Bomb Squad Gets Involved
In response to the perceived threat, law enforcement officers closed off the street and evacuated nearby homes to ensure the safety of residents. Deputies then called in the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad to examine the device. After careful assessment, the bomb squad determined that the device was a hoax.

Following the investigation, deputies arrested the 45-year-old man believed to have placed the tank inside his vehicle. Detectives stated that they plan to pursue charges against him for representing or presenting a device as an explosive, a felony offense that carries a potential five-year prison sentence.
