Popular Fancy Eastern Iowa Restaurant Catches Fire Friday Morning
A popular fancy Eastern Iowa restaurant that has offered stunning Mississippi River views and delicious food for more than 30 years caught fire early Friday morning to start the new year.
LeClaire Fire Chief Shane Bleeker told our news partner, KWQC, that crews responded just before 1:40 a.m. to a call to the 1300 block of Eagle Ridge Road in LeClaire. Originally, crews though that what the fire was outside.
When the LeClaire Fire Department arrived, officials told KWQC that they found heavy fire in the attic of Steventon's Riverfront Food & Spirits (1399 Eagle Ridge Rd) which transitioned to the outside. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and no injuries or deaths have been reported by officials.
The photos taken at Friday morning's fire by KWQC's Chief Photojournalist Mike Ortiz are devastating. The building looks to be like a total loss but this hasn't been confirmed by officials or the restaurant. Take a look below.
UPDATE- 12:23 P.M. 1/3/2025: The owners of the restaurant have released a statement regarding the fire that took their restaurant early Friday morning:
My wife and I have made Steventon's a summer tradition since moving to the Quad Cities at the end of 2019. It has been a place where we have celebrated or just have gone for a fancy date night. I know many others have done the same.
Steventon's was opened by Steventon Wagner in 1992. It sits on a hill giving customers a Mississippi River view and dining experience like no other restaurant in the Quad Cities.
Steventon's is owned by Food Drink Friends, Inc. which also owns City Limits Saloon & Grill in Rock Island, The Tangled Wood in Bettendorf, and Palmer Grill at Palmer Hills Golf Course in Bettendorf
This story is still developing.
