Owners of a popular Mexican restaurant in eastern Iowa have closed its doors. That’s the bad news. The good news is that the location won’t be empty for long. Owners of this Mexican restaurant not only announced the closure of it but announced that a new concept is coming to the same exact location in the spring.

If you’re a fan of the Blue Iguana (201 N Cody Rd) in LeClaire, then you won’t like this news. Owners of the popular Mexican restaurant in the heart of Buffalo Bill’s birthplace announced that they have closed up shop on social media.

The Blue Iguana actually closed for general maintenance and for spring cleaning back in late February.

In the social media post on Monday, owners said,

”The Blue Iguana has had a great run here, but we have decided it is time for a change. We will be testing a new restaurant concept at this location. We love LeClaire and look forward to seeing our friends back here later this spring with our new concept. See you soon!”

We aren’t sure what the new concept will be, but we look forward to discovering what it is.

Back in 2021, it was announced that the Blue Iguana was going to expand into the old Sneaky Pete's location next door. Sneaky Pete's closed its doors in 2018.

Blue Iguana opened a second location in Waterloo, IA inside the new Courtyard by Marriot Waterloo-Cedar Falls. That location suddenly closed in July 2020, even though they received $14,000 in COVID-19 relief funds. The owners cited pandemic-related issues as the reason for the closure.
