State Of Iowa Confirms Another Measles Case Amid National Outbreak

It's an Eastern Iowa resident who was fully vaccinated.

A nationwide outbreak of measles has been going on and, while most cases have been in Texas, a growing number are happening in the Midwest, including Iowa.

It's gotten to the point that the CDC has a map they're updating every week now.

As we've already told you, measles numbers in the U.S. are the highest they've been since 2000.

What's Going On: Illinois, Iowa Report Cases In National Measles Outbreak

Now, the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services has confirmed another case of measles in an Eastern Iowa adult. You can still get the measles even if you've been vaccinated, though it's a small chance. But that's what happened with this person.

Iowa's health department is warning you about the locations that the infected individual has visited in the last several days:

  • 5:30p.m.–7:30p.m.: Casey's 2699 Rockdale Rd. Dubuque
  • 6:30p.m.–8:30p.m.: Dan and Debbie’s Creamery 1600 Main St, Ely, IA
• July 7th
  • 7:00a.m.–9:00a.m.: Fields of Fun Daycare 6340 Muirfield Dr SW, Cedar Rapids
  • 8:00a.m.–8:00p.m.: Amana Pharmacy (Amana Society Pharmacy) 507 39th Ave., Amana
• July 8th
  • 9:00a.m.–8:00p.m.: North Liberty Pharmacy 555 W Cherry St, North Liberty
  • 6:30p.m.–8:30p.m.: Casey’s 1495 State Street Ely
• July 9th
  • 4:00p.m.–7:00p.m.: Airport National Golf Range 3001 Wright Brothers Blvd, Cedar Rapids
• July 10th
  • 8:00a.m.–8:00p.m.: Amana Pharmacy (Amana Society Pharmacy) 507 39th Ave., Amana
• July 11th

Of the nearly 1,300 measles cases in the U.S. lately, 92% of them have been unvaccinated individuals. Experts say the best way to prevent yourself from getting measles is the vaccine.
