Illinois might have a bustling metropolis with Chicago but it also has a tiny town too.

I don't know if I could particularly deal with seeing the same small handful of people day in and day out but it seems like that's the sum of it for one town in Illinois. The town is still an incorporated actual town.

The smallest town in Illinois is Valley City, which recorded a population of 14 people at the 2020 census.

Valley City is in Pike County and sits on the Illinois River. You can see the span of it on Google Earth:

It's a town small enough that Google associates some addresses there with Griggsville, Illinois, so that's what pops up on Google Maps.

It's important to note that Valley City is Illinois's smallest town in terms of population, not land area. It's still not sprawling in that category either, at only 0.212 square miles. It's hard to imagine that Illinois has a full town smaller in physical size than that but I digress. I could at least say I ran all the way across town in Valley City, which would at least sound athletic.

The town hasn't been without it's troubles. In early 2016, Valley City flooded from the river and it put a lot of the town's roads underwater.

As far as the town's distance from the Quad Cities, Valley City is about a 3-hour drive away from Davenport, according to Google Maps, and is situated pretty close to the Illinois/Missouri border.
