On Friday, the Davenport Parks and Recreation Department announced that this year they will be hosting many Movies in the Park events due to popular demand.

Last year, they did Movies on the Mississippi and the films were primarily held at LeClaire Park. This year, movies will be shown at different parks throughout the city.

All of the Movies in the Park events are free to attend and will take place on a Friday with the fun beginning at 6 p.m. with food sales and free activities. No registration is required to attend these events.

Davenport Parks and Recreation officials say in the event of rain, the event will be canceled. Cancellations will be made by 3:00 p.m., the day of the movie.

The first of the four scheduled Movies in the Park events is slated for Friday, May 19th. The featured film that night will be the 2016 animated film, Sing.

Grab your lawn chairs, blankets, and a picnic to enjoy these family-friendly evenings under the stars in Davenport. Below are the Movies in the Park schedule and locations for the rest of the summer:

  • 5/19 - Sing - Eastern Ave Library and Prairie Heights Park
  • 6/23 - The Lorax - Annie Wittenmyer Complex
  • 7/21 - Sing 2 - LeClaire Park
