If you happened to buy a lottery ticket in Illinois recently, you may want to check it.

It's not uncommon to hear about people winning tens of thousands of dollars on the lottery or even a $1 million winning ticket that has yet to be claimed. But the total prize on the latest winning ticket from the Illinois Lottery has it beat.

A $9.2 million winning lottery ticket was recently sold in a Chicago suburb and now the search is on for who won it, according to Illinois Lottery.

It wasn't bought at a gas station though. It was purchased at Jewel-Osco in Addison, at 140 West Lake St.

The Lotto ticket was bought for the drawing on Saturday, August 24th. The winning numbers were 2-15-21-29-42-44, hitting the jackpot prize.

Lotto is an Illinois-only $2 jackpot game that puts a player's numbers into 3 separate drawings that are on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. This marks the second-highest Lotto prize won by an Illinois Lottery player this year.

For selling the winning ticket, the Jewel-Osco in Addison will get a bonus of $92,000.

So if you bought a Lotto ticket here recently, check it! If you have those winning numbers, the Illinois Lottery advises you to immediately sign the back of the ticket and keep it in a safe place until you're ready to go to the Illinois Lottery's office to claim your prize. Winners have one year from the date of the drawing to do so.

In Illinois, lottery winners of prizes $250,000 or greater can choose to remain anonymous.
