Apparently, Everyone is Moving To This Illinois City
Illinois has so many charming towns and cities loved by their residents those who visit. But which city in Illinois is keeping those who visit as permanent residents in 2024?
Illinois towns have been talked about a lot this year, even the massive city of Chicago. While Illinois is also made up of small and rural towns, Illinois has huge cities even beyond the Windy City. Big or small, Illinois pride and Iowa nice are truly a real thing. Good or bad, we've recently highlighted towns across Illinois with stories talking about Illinois having one of the best-ran cities, four of the safest and richest cities are in Illinois, the trashiest towns in Illinois, and even the most redneck towns in Illinois.
We continue to highlight another Illinois city but for a good reason. An updated study and list from moveBuddha, lists the top city everyone is moving to in each state in 2024. There are some Illinois towns that will pay you to move to their town because they want people so badly. But the city people are moving to the most in Iowa isn't doing that, unfortunately.
Everyone is Moving To This Illinois City
There is a method on how moveBuddha figured out that people are moving to this Illinois city this most and all of the other cities in the other states on this list. This is how they did it:
"To determine the top move-to city in every state, we looked at moveBuddha's most recent mover search data to compile a list of moves planned for 2024. The data used for this analysis includes searches made at any time between July 1, 2023, and March 3, 2024, where searches indicated they were planning to move at any time in 2024."
They also used Zillow Home Value Index data (Jan 2024) for home averages and the U.S. Census population estimates.
What city in Illinois is everyone moving to and calling their new home? It's a smaller city but a good one that's home to a Big Ten football school... congratulations to none other than Champaign. The average home value in Iowa's capital is $196,044 with a moving-in-to-out ratio of 1.32.
Even though Champaign has had a really bad bed bug problem, Champaign is also one of the best cities for singles in Illinois.
It looks like if you plan on moving to the Land of Lincoln, or you're looking for a change with Midwest views, values, and fun, maybe consider giving Champaign a chance.
