Major Illinois Furniture Closing All Locations Permanently
You've heard a lot of news about several companies across the U.S. either filing for bankruptcy or closing stores altogether. Another company with stores in Chicago and Illinois has filed for bankruptcy but is closing every single store across the country.
We know about TGIF Fridays filing for bankruptcy in Illinois, earlier this year Red Lobster did the same thing and closed Illinois stores, several clothing stores in Illinois have filed for bankruptcy, and the list just goes on. A furniture and appliance store that has been open for 30 years will soon go from over 300 locations to 0 from shortly.
American Freight Closing All Illinois Locations
That's right. After 30 years of being in business and with 328 locations across the U.S., American Freight is closing up shop. But it's not all bad news.
The news of American Freight closing all of its locations in Chicago, throughout Illinois, and the U.S. broke this week admist the holiday season. Right now, shoppers can save up to 30% off the lowest ticketed prices storewide. Customers can save money on items like living room sets, bedroom furniture, and dining tables. They can also get money off of a selection of scratch & dent and new in-box appliances, such as refrigerators, washers and dryers, and more.
The reason for the closure and dismantling of American Freight is to "prop up" other brands owned by the same company as American Freight, Franchise Group, Inc., according to WQAD. Those other brands Pet Supplies Plus and the Vitamin Shop. American Freight did file for bankruptcy protection.
The closest American Freight to us is the store in Davenport on Kimberly Road next to (confusingly) Harbor Freight. The American Freight location in Davenport opened in early 2019.
