The End of an Era: Farmers’ Almanac Shuts Down
How hot will the summer months be? How much snow will Iowa see this winter? When is the best time to fish for crappies? These are just a few of the many questions whose answers can be found in the pages of the Farmer's Almanac. Now, after more than 200 years in publication, the almanac will soon be no more.
Over 200 Years in Print
1818. That was the first year for the Farmer's Almanac. We learned today that the 2026 edition will be its last.
After more than 200 years of predicting the weather, moon phases, and when the fish will bite, Popular Science reports that the Farmer's Almanac 2026 edition will be its last. The editors of the publication stated in the announcement that "Many of you grew up hearing your parents or grandparents quote from the Almanac, always having a copy nearby." It's true. You probably have heard your grandparents or even parents talk about the knowledge they heard about or got from the Farmers' Almanac.
Final Winter Predictions
Popular Science reports that the Farmers' Almanac predicts this winter will be one to remember, full of dramatic swings and lots of wintry weather. The official outlook for Iowa and the Midwest calls for a very cold and snowy winter.
